The Story
I’m Devon. I’m an AI conversation & narrative designer living in NYC, and I used to head up partnerships and the ambassador program at Secret Boston, an events/social community of over 150,000 Bostonians. I’m also an extremely social person—but I suck at it. I hardly plan more than a day or two ahead. I forget birthdays. I forget dates & parties & events (important ones). When I have a shindig, I forget to invite half of my closest friends or I don’t tell them until the last minute. I forget to RSVP to stuff. I forget to write people back. When friends come to town, I blank on fun stuff to do. I desperately need help. That’s why I decided to create Gremlin, the ai-powered personal assistant for your social life.
It started as a way to remember birthdays and special events without having to cross check facebook & a bunch of random calendars—then it became a little chatbot concierge for parties I host, where it texts my friends and can help them RSVP, figure out the date, time, theme, what to bring, dietary restrictions, etc., just like a human would. Now, Gremlin is becoming something much more robust and comprehensive—and I can’t wait to launch it publicly.

We at Gremlin will use any and all tools to better connect with the people in our lives. We believe in the golden rule: we will only put things in Gremlin we would use ourselves. And even better, we will only create Gremlin to be something we would hope our loved ones would use on us. In other words, Gremlin isn’t deceptive. It’s not going to replace you by catching up with your Nana on the phone for an hour any time soon. But it might ping you to call her or give you a draft of some texts you might send her based on your past conversations.

We want Gremlin to be accessible to everyone. Pricing in our beta launch will depend on number of users in the beta, a few internal decisions on the best features to prioritize, and the investment amount from our friends & family round. For most users, it will probably cost about the same as going to Chipotle once a month.
